G.D. Goenka Public School, Lucknow celebrated Janmashtami

Janmashtami is a grand festival celebrated all over India to commemorate the birth of Lord Krishna, who is believed to be the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu.

G.D. Goenka Public School, Lucknow celebrated Janmashtami with all passion and zealous on August 12, 2020 during the online class. Students were enlightened with the birth story of Lord krishna through a video where they enjoyed pranks of Lord Krishna which filled the environment with fun and frolic.

Little Goenkans of grade pre-nursery and nursery were dressed up as Radha and Krishna. They also danced on the tune of krishna bhajan. Kindergarteners made flute with paper folding and decorated it using colorful stick stones and ribbon. Students of grade 1 and 2 created beautiful jhaanki with the help of their toys and decorative materials available at home.

Children were also briefed about the importance of festival with the help of Power point presentation where they were explained the motive behind the birth of Lord Krishna on earth.

The little ones were fascinated with the fact that the actual celebration of Janmashtami takes place at midnight as Sri Krishna is believed to be borne on a dark, stormy and windy night to end the rule and violence of his uncle, Kansa. All over India this day is celebrated with devotional songs and dances, puja, arti, blowing of the conch shell and rocking the cradle of baby Sri Krishna.

This Virtual Janmashtami celebration was not only informative for the children but left immense pleasure in their hearts and this event will be cherished in their little minds for a long time. It was fun watching them giggle with joy.
