New Delhi, April 22: Amidst the ongoing Iran-US and Israel conflict in West Asia, the central government has stated that despite disruptions in petroleum and gas supply, the supply of oil and gas in the country is normal. It has also claimed that all Indian sailors engaged in transportation outside the country through waterways are safe, domestic LPG supply has returned to normal levels and several steps have been taken to ensure uninterrupted supply of fuel and gas.<\/p>\n
Mukesh Mangal, Additional Secretary, Union Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, told the daily inter-ministerial press conference at the National Media Centre here that no incident has been reported on any Indian flagged ship in the last 24 hours and our sailors are safe. An Indian-flagged crude oil tanker safely entered India\u2019s waters on March 18 and is expected to arrive in Mumbai this evening with 31 Indian sailors. The ministry has so far safely repatriated 2,615 Indian sailors, including 25 in the last 24 hours.<\/p>\n
Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary, Union Petroleum Ministry, stated that domestic LPG supplies have returned to normal levels. Over 100,000 tonnes of LPG were supplied in April, and over 100,000 cylinders are in distribution. The government is promoting piped natural gas (PNG) and rapidly expanding connections and infrastructure. The number of new LPG customers has also increased, and refineries are operating at full capacity. Thousands of raids have been conducted recently, resulting in the seizure of cylinders. Oil marketing companies are also conducting surprise inspections to prevent hoarding and illegal sales.<\/p>\n
Nidhi Kesariwani, Joint Secretary, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), said that the Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation (PESO) has issued several orders to ensure uninterrupted supply of fuel and gas. 41 biogas cylinder filling and storage plants have been approved and 14 plants have been granted licenses. In view of the demand for kerosene, temporary storage exemptions have been granted, allowing the storage of up to 2,500 liters of high-quality kerosene and 5,000 liters of PDS kerosene at a time.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
