Heat grips 32 districts of Uttar Pradesh, yellow alert issued, no relief until April 25

Lucknow, April 22: The heat in Uttar Pradesh has intensified sharply, prompting the Meteorological Department to issue a yellow alert for heat wave conditions in 32 districts. With temperatures crossing 45°C in Bundelkhand and Purvanchal, the department has warned of severe heat over the next 24 to 48 hours, urging residents to remain cautious.

The scorching sun and hot winds have made the weather even more unbearable across the state, adding to public distress. Authorities have advised people to take necessary precautions against the rising heat, as the situation is expected to remain critical in the coming days.

Dr Atul Kumar Singh, meteorologist with the Lucknow Meteorological Department, said on Wednesday that this heat wave has increased due to two major geographical factors: dry westerly winds and a cyclone over Maharashtra. This period of intense heat will continue for the next five days. Only after this, some relief can be obtained. On April 27, there is a possibility of rain, thundershowers and lightning at some places in the western Uttar Pradesh division.

According to the forecast issued by the weatherman, on Wednesday, there will be intense heat in Prayagraj, Pratapgarh, Sonbhadra, Mirzapur, Chandauli, Varanasi, Bhadohi, Jaunpur, Ghazipur, Azamgarh, Mau, Ballia, Deoria, Gorakhpur, Basti, Kushinagar, Maharajganj, Gonda, Balrampur, Shravasti, Bahraich, Lakhimpur Kheri, Sitapur, Barabanki, Amethi, Sultanpur, Pilibhit and Shahjahanpur. During this period, a heat wave alert has been issued in the above districts.
